There is no universal number of pressotherapy sessions to do each week. For a wellbeing routine with Eclipse devices, three to five sessions of 20 to 30 minutes per week offer a practical guide, adjusted to how you feel and to the manual. Daily pressotherapy is neither essential nor automatically more effective.
Key points
- There is no scientifically established universal frequency for pressotherapy.
- For Eclipse devices, three to five sessions per week are a wellbeing guideline, not a medical prescription.
- A 20 to 30 minute session is generally enough to build a routine at home with our devices.
- Daily use may be possible if the manual allows it and sessions remain comfortable, but it is not necessary for everyone.
- Consistency and comfort matter more than aiming for the highest frequency or pressure.
- If you have a diagnosed medical condition, discuss frequency with the professional overseeing your care.
How often can you do pressotherapy each week?
For a wellbeing routine at home with an Eclipse device, three to five sessions per week offer a simple guide. This reflects how we suggest using our devices; it is not a medical schedule that applies to every person or device.
Research does not define a single schedule either. Studies on pneumatic compression use widely differing protocols depending on the device, session length and, above all, the medical situation being studied.
It makes more sense to find a regular, comfortable rhythm than to aim for the maximum possible number of sessions.
Can you do pressotherapy every day?
Daily use may suit some people if the device permits it, the session remains comfortable and there are no contraindications. It is not required to establish a consistent routine.
Seven sessions instead of four or five do not automatically mean seven times the benefit. Consider how you feel after each session.
There is also no evidence that the lymphatic system always needs a day off after each session. Equally, there is no reason to continue frequent sessions when they do not feel right.
The best guide: your comfort
An extra session should not compensate for pressure set too high or force faster results. Pain, numbness, unusual bruising or persistent discomfort are reasons to stop or space out sessions, not to increase them.
How often should beginners start?
When you first try pressotherapy, build your routine gradually instead of starting with daily use.
| Situation | Eclipse practical guide | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| First sessions | Start gradually | Find a comfortable pressure and programme |
| Comfortable, regular routine | Around three to five sessions a week | Consistency over intensity |
| Daily use | Not routinely necessary | Manual, comfort and no unusual reaction |
| Diagnosed oedema or medical condition | No generic frequency | Follow your healthcare professional's advice |

How long should a session last?
With Eclipse pressotherapy devices, 20 to 30 minutes is the usual length for a routine at home.
A longer session is not necessarily more useful. Pressure, programme, number of air chambers, body shape and frequency all affect how a session feels.
The same applies to intensity: a device's maximum available pressure is a technical capability, not a target.

Should you do more sessions for a particular goal?
There is no scientifically validated schedule such as “cellulite = X sessions” or “heavy legs = Y sessions” that works for everyone.
How sensitive your legs are, your body shape, the programme you select, pressure and consistency can all affect your experience. At Eclipse, we favour an adaptable routine over a rigid protocol presented as universal.
How often you use the device is a different question from how long it may take to notice or feel a change. For the latter, read our guide “How many pressotherapy sessions does it take to see results?”.
Can you do two pressotherapy sessions a day?
Two sessions a day are not a general recommendation for a home wellbeing routine.
Some clinical pneumatic compression protocols studied in the literature include one or more sessions a day. These involve specific devices, defined session lengths and people receiving care for particular medical conditions.
Those protocols should not be copied to increase the use of a consumer device arbitrarily.
When should you space out sessions?
Sharp pain, numbness, persistent tingling, unusual bruising or discomfort that continues after a session are reasons to stop using the device or space out sessions.
A pressotherapy session should feel comfortable. These symptoms are not a sign of “deeper” or more effective drainage.
Our article on pressotherapy risks and side effects explains which signs are expected and when to stop.
How can you build a simple routine at home?
Choose a few regular times each week, keep sessions to a reasonable length and adjust the pressure gradually according to your comfort.
A consistent routine can be easier to keep: at the end of the day, after sitting or standing for a long time, or simply whenever you can settle in comfortably for a session.
Build your routine with Eclipse
Eclipse Wave Compression™ devices offer several programmes and pressure levels, so you can tailor each session to how you feel. The overlapping eight chamber design provides continuous sequential compression without gaps between massage areas.
Frequently asked questions about pressotherapy frequency
What is the ideal pressotherapy frequency?
There is no universal ideal. For an Eclipse device used as part of a wellbeing routine, three to five sessions a week offer a practical guide, adjusted to how you feel and to the manual.
Can you use your pressotherapy boots every day?
This may suit some people if the device allows it and sessions remain comfortable. Daily use is not essential, however.
How many sessions per week should beginners do?
Begin gradually to find a comfortable pressure, session length and programme before increasing frequency if you wish.
Do you need a rest day between sessions?
There is no universal rule requiring a rest day after every session. Follow the manual, your own response and any advice relevant to your medical circumstances.
Do more sessions lead to better results?
Not necessarily. More sessions or higher pressure do not guarantee better results. A regular, comfortable routine that suits you is more useful than aiming for the highest frequency.

Published research on pneumatic compression mainly concerns medical devices and people receiving care for specific conditions. It shows considerable variation in session frequency and length. It cannot establish a universal medical schedule for home wellbeing devices.
